Simplifying the concept

When I first developed the concept for the Skagen inspired rug, I really didn't know much about rug design and manufacturing. So the design that I developed based on Michael Ancher's painting 'A Stroll on the Beach' needed some work in order to translate into a manufacturable rug. I still have a lot to learn about the rug industry, but I am starting to understand the basic principles.

I have been working with Michael on simplifying the original design, picking out the right color in the Warp & Weft color library and figuring out the right configuration that will stay true to the original design. I am also adjusting the proportions to make them fit a 9'x12' rug. The original design is shown first, followed by iteration one to nine.
